Over the years, Virgin Voyages has expanded its offerings to include new destinations like San Juan and Key West. It has also grown its presence internationally, with cruises now available in New Zealand and Australia. The introduction of Eastern Caribbean itineraries and visits to port towns near Mayan ruins has further enriched the travel experiences.

But on a cruise ship with no kids, I never expected to find a playground for adults. I've had my fair share of luxury travel experiences, from staying at celebrity-loved hotels to spending one night on the Orient Express of the 21st century. Whether Sailors are into high-intensity workouts, deep breaths in search of nirvana, or if they pay for a gym membership but never use it – Virgin Voyages provide spaces to care for themselves in whichever way works best for them.

Many cruise ships I've been on in the past host dance parties as well, but more often, they take place on the open pool deck or in atrium spaces. It's rare that I've noticed larger dance clubs apart from the new Norwegian Prima, which has a large disco dance venue. Children are one of life’s great joys, but on Virgin Voyages, we believe absence makes the heart grow fonder, especially while on a cruise vacation. That’s why, despite the fact that our adult only cruise ships are a playground for your inner child, we’ve chosen to curate an adults-only cruise experience.
All-Inclusive Cruise Lines That Aren't Adults-Only
Rather than an assigned dining time, sailors can book reservations at any of the five restaurants on board just as they would on land. Scarlet Night, Virgin’s response to a formal night, might just be the epitome of what the line aims to do. Described as “an immersive celebration” where sailors are encouraged to dress in red, it’s a night when the entire ship is buzzing with excitement.
Virgin Voyages says no kids on the ocean. And the kids aren’t pleased.
In all my years sailing, I have never seen a record shop on a cruise ship, so I thought this was a unique feature that really made Virgin Voyages stand out from the others. And while I tend to be loyal to a few cruise lines, I was intrigued by the adults-only experience with Virgin Voyages and wanted to see for myself how it made this cruise line different. Virgin Voyages is pretty gung-ho about its scarlet red hammock on the balconies, but having the hammock hanging down made it feel even smaller for both of us to enjoy the space at the same time. It is a petty complaint, considering we were hardly ever in our suite, but the only time we would be in the hammock was when the other was in the shower.
Four of its nine eateries are specialty restaurants that come with additional charges. The Virgin Voyages philosophy is “retox then detox”, and there’s no better place to do the latter than at Redemption Spa, which promises a healthy dose of Vitamin Sea through a salt stone massage or a rejuvenating facial. The Thermal Suite offers a hydrotherapy pool, mud room, salt room, cold plunge pools, and quartz beds.

One other really cool event on my Virgin Voyages sailing was the Scarlet Night party. One wine pairing I saw offered six selections to accompany a six-course meal at The Test Kitchen for $35 per person. A typical glass of wine on Scarlet Lady costs around $10, so that seemed like a good value for those who want to try different varieties. While the shop didn't seem that large compared to land-based music stores, I thought the record selection was eclectic with albums from artists like Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks, Willie Nelson, Lizzo, and Depeche Mode. I thought the space was really cool and noticed it had an occasional DJ spinning selections from disco to rock and country hits. While the safety briefing video played in my cabin, the tone went from serious safety to serious rock 'n' roll in a flash.
Unveiling the Allure: Inside a Virgin Adults-Only Cruise Experience

Let’s embark on a journey through the unique offerings of Virgin adult cruises, courtesy of their innovative approach to cruising. Choosing a Virgin Voyage means embracing a cruise experience that’s been crafted from the ground up for adults seeking adventure, relaxation, and all-inclusive luxury. Whether you’re looking to explore new destinations with Regent Seven Seas Cruises, enjoy the tranquility of a river cruise, or experience the vibrant life on board Virgin Voyages ships, there’s something for every adult traveler. Virgin Voyages introduces adult-only cruises focused on relaxation and luxury, with new itineraries in the Caribbean and Europe. The unique sailor app ensures a seamless cruise experience, along with fitness classes and group activities. Stringent health and safety protocols are in place, aligning with disease control guidelines.
"This was my first cruise, and what an amazing time it was! The crew was amazing. The food was amazing! I love the places scattered around the ship to eat. Especially The Galley. Great vibe onboard. You can do as much or as little as you want to." You can expect some kids on Regent Seven Seas' Alaska and European cruises in the summer, so if you're set on cruising at that time of year, opt for longer cruises that shy away from places with more family-friendly excursions. The line has two ocean ships, the 999-passenger Spirit of Discovery and the 999-passenger Spirit of Adventure, both with all balcony staterooms. Saga cruise itineraries include the Baltic, the British Isles, the Canaries, and the Caribbean. Outside of the Mediterranean, Viking Alaska or Caribbean cruises are an easy choice for those seeking adults-only cruising during busy summer travel seasons to regions that are otherwise wildly popular with families.
Pampering continues at Dry Dock, the on-board blowout bar, and Stubble and Groom barbershop, where you can get a shave with a side of whiskey or beer. I treat myself to a shellac manicure at Tune Up with some of the best views on the ship, and have to strongly resist the urge to take home a permanent souvenir of the trip from Squid Ink, the onboard tattoo parlour. At Scott & Thomas, we’re here to help you navigate the world of adult-only cruising. From helping you pick the perfect Virgin Voyages cruise to ensuring you make the most of everything these incredible ships have to offer, we’re with you every step of the way. From the VIP rooftop, club lounge and sky rooms, which use dichroic rainbow-effect glass, through to the world’s first onboard tattoo parlour – Virgin Voyages ships boast theatrical spaces with a sense of drama and fun throughout.
From refined dining to relaxed casual, all of our 20+ eateries featuring menus curated by Michelin star chefs are yours to enjoy. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data.
You’ll find a world of sophisticated fun, from gourmet dining options without the extra charge to Wi-Fi that keeps you connected while floating in the vastness of the sea. It’s about enjoying luxury that’s both lavish and meaningful, from savoring a Korean BBQ feast to lounging by the pool without a care in the world. Forget the traditional cruise buffet; Virgin Voyages revolutionizes dining at sea with over 20 unique dining options included in your voyage fare. From the explosive flavors at Pink Agave, an elevated Mexican restaurant, to the innovative Korean BBQ at Gunbae, every meal is an adventure.
Regent's five ships (with a sixth launching in 2023), range in size from 490 to 750 passengers. Virgin Voyages ships curate shore excursions, or “Shore Things,” that appeal to the adventurous spirit of the adult traveler. Whether it’s exploring ancient ruins, diving into culinary tours, or enjoying a private beach club in Bimini, these excursions are designed to enhance the cruise experience far beyond the typical tourist paths. Technology at work aboard Virgin Voyages ensures a seamlessly interconnected cruise experience.
Additional charges may be charged for some premium drinks and specialty restaurants. In addition to onboard perks, Silversea's all-inclusive cruises include transfers from your door to the ship and back. Saga Cruises, a British boutique cruise line, offers small-ship sailings exclusively to passengers over 50 years of age. Fares include all meals at any restaurant, gratuities, Wi-Fi, most drinks (wine with lunch and dinner plus soda, house spirits, draft beer and mocktails), fitness classes, transfers to and from the ship and shuttles into town from port.
